The 2009 Hoscar awards took place in Dublin on 26th January this year and a group of us from Hatters left our lovely hostels for a few days and made the short hop across the water.

As well as the usual excessive Guinness drinking, the best hostels in the world were honoured including The Hatters of course!

Travellers House in Lisbon brought home the bacon winning Best Hostel worldwide to go along with the awards they won for best location and best character.

Some of the other awards were Most Fun Hostel, Cleanest hostel  and the hostel with the Best Staff.

Now onto the one that us here at the Hatters are very excited about.

We came second in the Best Hostel Chain category and with the opening of Hatters Liverpool on the horizon things are getting better and better!!!!

What better way to celebrate this wonderful achievement at The Hoscars by offering anybody that registers for our blog a Super Exclusive deal???

Just click the Green Skype button on the left and book 2 nights get your third for ¬Ω price.

2009 is the Year of the Ox.  This grand, sturdy creature is thought to symbolise prosperity, fortitude and hard work. Those born under it are said to be patient, self-sacrificing and stubborn! If you were born in between these dates it’s you we’re talking about:

29 January 1949 – 16 February 1950 15 February 1961 – 4 February 1962 3 February 1973 – 22 January 1974 20 February 1985 – 8 February 1986 7 February 1997 – 28 January 1998 26 January 2009 – 14 February 2010 Photobucket See you in Brumland for Chinese New Year!

Hello from Brumland! I am here to confirm the rumours – yes it’s true, we are expecting… Photobucket …the sprouting of a lovely chap who I think you will all like to meet. In his current state – even though he’s not officially born/out of the ground yet – I’ve found him to be a patient, kind fellow who is always there, through the good times, the great times and especially the rough times.  Ironically his name is John.Photobucket

We’ll keep you up to date on his progress…. Photobucket Aaaaw, cute huh?
