Chinese
Tokyou Noodle Bar – Berry Street
Tokyou has carved out a reputation for itself as the best budget noodle bar in all of Liverpool town. With prices starting from as little as £4 for a full meal, Tokyou has a menu designed to cater to all tastes and all budgets. They also produce authentic Japanese, Indonesian and Malaysian dishes that are the equal of Liverpool’s more expensive eateries.

Indian
Master Chef – Renshaw Street
Situated just around the corner from Hatters, Master Chef is one of Liverpool’s favourite curry houses and boasts off-the-beaten track recipes, such as their trademark “Badami” and “Pepsila” dishes.

Italian
Italian Club Restaurant – Bold Street
Italian Club Restaurant sits cosily beside Hatters favourite bar, Tabac, on Bold Street in the independent business hub of Liverpool’s vibrant city centre. Simple hot daily specials are prepared every morning and served in an accurate and faithful manner, including cold antipasti and Panini that are offered at extremely competitive prices. The family business has recently added a seafood restaurant across the road, Italian Club Seafood, which is also winning rave reviews for its faithful Tuscan delights. Average meal prices range from £3-6.

Mexican
Tavern – Queens Square Situated by the Queen Square Bus Station, Tavern is a low-lit feast of south-of-the-border cuisine and offers a relaxed atmosphere alongside hearty portions at reasonable prices. The menu caters to the more adventurous palate, as well as offering burgers and fajitas for the more casual patron. Although Tavern is marginally more expensive than the above restaurants, it certainly offers value for money fare, and will surely add extra sizzle to a stay in Liverpool.

French
Bistro Jacques – Hardman Street
To dine à la française, Bistro Jacques is situated just a stone’s throw from Hatters Hostel and serves rustic French cuisine and boasts traditional Gallic décor with wooden tables, candles in bottles and walls smattered with prints by French artists. Bistro Jacques are famous for their 3 course “Lunch Offre” for £7.95 from 12pm every day. Their pre-theatre 3 course menu is also worth mentioning, at £10.95.

Spanish
Tirano – Lark Lane, Aigburth Not necessarily sitting snugly under the “cheap eats” banner, but worth a mention for the fact that it is part-owned by Liverpool FC’s defensive general, Daniel Agger. The Great Dane can often be seen sampling his restaurant’s Tuscan and Spanish blend. The food on offer, as one would expect, is an exotic selection of tapas, antipasti, fish and meat dishes. One to recommend, although located outside of the City centre on ever-trendy Lark Lane.
