Day 3
Finally, we made it! We are in the capital city of communism. Time to see how it looks now.
Walking the streets of
Moscow we realize that there is not much left from the
Cold War times. On the way to the Red Square,
Spanish dude becomes real Russian man……
Red Square is spectacular. Crowds of people, loads of tourists and happy looking locals…
This is just beginning of our trip!
Tonight we head off for the Trans Siberian train and we’ll be sampling its delights for nearly a week!
So, the last groceries and roll on… chuga chuga choo cHOOOOO….
Day Two:
Arrived in Lviv @ 6am after nearly falling into a crater-sized hole in the middle of the street. Luckily there are 18 of us so we can afford to lose a couple… like in old Star Trek where they go on an expedition with enough crew that are expendable….. but we survived so onwards and upwards to infinity and beyond…The Iron Curtain.
We had not time to explore it properly but expect that crater to appear in the next tourist maps for Lviv. From there we had to rush to catch the train to Moscow which took 24 happy hours ..and a few more drinks.
The customs was a bit of a pain in the many bottoms as first you had the
Ukrainian control followed 2 hours later with the
Russian control so it must be one hell of a no-mans -land between the two… and about 1and a half hour stalled at each border with a lot of paperwork but hey it’s all part of it.
We finally arrived in Moscow at around 8am after passing through the extensive and impressive megatropolis that is
Kiev.

We checked into a lovely hostel, 10 mins walk from Red square called Godzilla Hostel…. RRRRAgggghhhHHH.
